My love of books began early. At four, unwilling to wait until kindergarten to learn to read, I tried a focus-on-the-page-until-it-makes-sense approach. Big surprise. That didn’t work. At six, it clicked, and I’ve been obsessed with words and stories ever since.

Growing up watching SciFi of all varieties (as well as falling in love with Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time) created a special place in my heart for stories involving things outside everyday reality. 

Now, I write speculative Young Adult and New Adult fiction, most often paranormal and urban fantasy. I love exploring the gorgeous joys and heartbreaking challenges of being alive through the eyes of not-quite-normal characters.

I love the mountains, but Oklahoma is home. I stay busy with teaching writing, keeping up with one very active teenager, and resisting the urge to bring home another rescue animal.
